On September 25th, 2025, the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”) determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of corrosion-resistant steel products from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam that the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) has determined are sold in the United States at less than fair value and subsidized by the governments of Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and Vietnam.
As a result of these affirmative determinations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection collects cash deposits on imports of corrosion-resistant steel from these 10 countries into the United States.
In 2024, imports of corrosion-resistant steel into the United States were valued at more than $2.9 billion.
Schagrin Associates filed the petitions underlying the investigations on behalf of Steel Dynamics, Inc., from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the United Steel Workers Union.
