Tamara L. Browne

Ms. Browne leads the government affairs practice at Schagrin Associates. She has successfully established and implemented advocacy campaigns which have resulted in legislative and regulatory reform, establishment of new customs enforcement laws and broad external affairs efforts to develop public policies that provide relief for the domestic steel and steel pipe and tube industry, and other domestic manufacturers and their employees injured by unfair trade practices. She has also collaborated with other stakeholders on the implementation of infrastructure and procurement policies that will assist domestic manufacturers and communities.

Ms. Browne was a leader in the development of anti-fraud legislation aimed at ending persistent fraud, circumvention and evasion practices that harmed the steel industry. Over an eight year period, she joined other fair trade advocates to promote legislation, which was signed into law in February 2016. (Enforce and Protect Act of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015).

Prior to joining Schagrin Associates, Ms. Browne served as Legislative Director for U.S. Representative Peter Visclosky (D-IN) where she oversaw matters related to appropriations, steel trade and commerce, environment and infrastructure and issues  before the Congressional Steel Caucus and other House Committees. She is a graduate of Ripon College and in 2017 was named as an “Outstanding Alumni” for her efforts on the development of national trade policies.
