Administrative Assistant - Government Affairs

Full-time Administrative Assistant to work directly with the Government Affairs Director. The Government Affairs Director also manages an industry association that is active on international trade policy and other issues. This entry-level position is an immediate opening. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Full time staff/administrative assistant position at legal/lobbying firm

  • Primary responsibilities to support Government Affairs Director on association and firm external affairs projects

  • Candidate will help maintain and track industry association invoices, receivables, and accounts.

  • Candidate must be proficient in word processing, excel, development of presentations and team player and will assist with preparation of materials for meetings and on site meeting planning

  • Candidate will work with Government Affairs Director on support of advocacy activities in Congress and before Administration

  • Candidate will work with other administrative staff to support other activities of the firm, filing, answer phones, general support

  • Position is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate interested in association management and advocacy

  • Position is M-F 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. - downtown location near metro and provides competitive salary



  • Undergraduate degree required.

  • An interest in and knowledge of the workings of United States Government.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ideal candidate must be able to handle several projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Flexibility in handling a variety of different tasks and ability to work under pressure.

  • Professional demeanor, particularly when answering phones and greeting clients.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Apps, and strong typing skills required.
