In June 2025, the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”) determined that a U.S. industry has been materially injured by reason of unfairly traded imports of high chrome cast iron grinding media from India.

The U.S. Department of Commerce had previously concluded that high chrome cast iron grinding media from India was both subsidized by the Government of India and sold in the United States at less than fair value – calculating a dumping margin of 9.79 percent and a subsidy rate of 3.16 percent.

As a result of these affirmative determinations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has begun collecting cash deposits on imports of high chrome cast iron grinding media from India into the United States.

In 2023, imports of grinding media from India were valued at more than $36 million.

Schagrin Associates filed the petitions underlying the investigations on behalf of Magotteaux Inc., located in Franklin, Tennessee.
